… I took the gamble and picked up the SX-10 IS and boy was I ever surprised – heck, I was taken aback at how gorgeous the IQ is from this new Canon super zoom. It blows the P90 out of the water in both clarity and color tonality, and I don’t say that lightly! What was really pleasantly surprising to me was the clarity you can achieve at full zoom (whereas many superzoom digicams lose that clarity at the long end).

The P90 smears the clarity by comparison and it’s a night and day difference, and look gang, I have countless Nikon cameras – both DSLR and digicams. But I have to call a spade a space…..this baby rocks!

The camera not only looks good and feels good, but at the lower ISO’s (at ISO 100 and below), the images approach DSLR quality, especially on gorgeous clear days. The IS capabilities of this SX-10 IS camera are absolutely awesome – better than many long reach zoom digicams that I’ve seen. But I guess what was most surprising (given the genre and how small the sensor is), is the ample amount of dynamic range this camera’s images has.

Ben also shared a ton of great pictures in that post – I really like the aircraft pics.
